Services

Emergency Services
Fire

Easterville Community Council has one Fire Chief, James Umpherville and ten Level 1 Firefighters also Volunteer Firefighters.
Fire fighting capability is based on a pumper truck and equipment from the community fire hall. Additional portable forestry-style equipment is available for grass and brush fires. Call 329-3096 to report a fire. 

Police
Police response is from the Easterville Detachment RCMP, phone (204) 329-2004.  After hours 329-2000.

Medical
Medical response is limited to a federal nursing station on the reserve, staffed by three nurses, one
community health worker and 2 on-call workers. The nearest hospital is at The Pas. Emergency medical transport service is provided by a medical van.

Community-based Services
Airstrip
An unattended limited maintenance 2,600' x 35' emergency gravel airstrip is located on the edge of
the community It is necessary to phone the nursing station in advance to arrange for use.


Water
Water source is wells. Water is chlorinated and pumped to two pump houses and a standpipe. The
community administration building,have running water supplied by the system. Water delivery is available to individual houses.  Garfield McKay is our Water and Wastewater Operator for 30 years.  Stanley Umpherville is our new Public Works employee.

Waste Disposal
Garbage and Sewage Pumpout services are available daily.


Schools
All treaty and non-treaty students attend school on the Chemawawin Cree Nation.

Recreation Facilities
Community Hall

New to the Community is the Community Recreation Committee which is a non-profit organization.  President Sherri Mckay, Vice-President Emily Easter, Secretary-Treasurer Elaine Gouldhawke and Board Members, Ethel McKay, Zerlinda Dorion and George Young.
